March of Millions

March of Millions

Our first morning in Havana we witnessed the March of Millions, which took place along the Malecon to protest the U.S. Embargo of Cuba. Although I don't know the actual number of people marching past the U.S. Special Interests building there were certainly hundreds of thousands. Many were students and most of the people waved small Cuban flags. These young men asked me to take their photos; I certainly never had a problem finding willing subjects for a photo.

A side note: Previous information posted here about the origin of the Cuban flag was erroneous (Thank You to S. Reyes for pointing out my error). To read about the real origins of the flag visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuban_flag
