Living on the waterfront in a rural environment provides endless opportunity for photographic ecstacy. During the warmer months I keep an ear out for the passing Orca whales. Hundreds of images of the whales sit on my computer's harddrive but only a dozen or so actually capture something of the thrill of witnessing the Orcas' speed and grace. I kayak and love to peer into the waters at the ever-changing oceanic world inches away. Eagles and deer frequent our neighbourhood. Our temperate Gulf Islands climate with four distinct seasons provides a constant cycling of re/birth, life and death. The most amazing things happen when one looks closely at the natural world. Using the camera as a tool for seeing often illuminates an otherwise overlooked wonder.
