El Oasis Artist
We walked from Playa Siboney to El Oasis to see the artists colony, Comunidad Artistas Oasis. This gentleman showed us his studio, his work and discussed with us the art scene in Cuba. He has shown internationally (Cuban art is popular in Europe) and can make a living in Cuba. In recent years the authorities have allowed artists more freedom of expression and you can now see political and activist art, although one can never be too careful in a police state. |
