Train to Valle de los Indigenos

Train to Valle de los Indigenos

Normally a lovely old steam train runs to the Valle de los Indigenos but it was under repair (we did see it on a test run). So we took a ride in this diesel train instead to the former sugar plantation of Manaca Iznaga. The train rocketed along on its narrow track, constantly jolting from side to side. Besides zipping over a trestle, while swaying side-to-side, my biggest thrill was seeing a Spilsbury Communications radiophone, built in Vancouver, in use on the train. It just happened that my reading material on our journey was Spilsburys Coast, the story of Jim Spilsbury, the man behind the radio.
