Z: stormy daze :Z

0602: : : Days and nights hearing sometimes seeing thunder and lightning and an almost constant wind. Lightning, in winter, around Pender Island. Very strange. Finally provoked to scour the stacks and find the appropriate artwork to capture the experience. Feats Don't Fail Me Now is an old favourite; the first Little Feat album I purchased I believe. Aztec Camera's Knife came to me via a fortunate encounter in a thrift store - a lovely album. Francoise Hardy I first heard of when I became infatuated with the movie Gran Prix. Funnily enough I never saw the entire movie until recently. But in my early teens I read all about the race car filming sequences in Popular Mechanics and also read the novel, which included B/W stills from the movie. And so I encountered Francoise Hardy, the embodiment of '60s EuroCool. And now I've finally heard her voice, her first claim to fame. Some of the tunes, on this her first LP, sound fresh and vital today. And Francoise Hardy still records today. Of all these albums The Lion in Winter I'm least familar with. The image of Katherine Hepburn is enough for me to place this on the mantle of fame.

And below a host of oranges, heralding the approach of warmer days....
