I love photographing performers. There is so much going for the photographer when photographing a performance: interesting lighting, energy and action and a subject who's emoting. All these can add up to a dynamite photo. There are a few downsides: getting a good angle, sometimes being jostled while taking photos, low lighting, gear (eg. mic stands) that can create distractions and, worst of all, focussing on getting a good photo and not on the performance itself. But all those fall by the way in the excitement of performance. I've learned to take a break and catch the actual performance; that odd angles, low lighting and gear placement can add to the visual excitement.
I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed making them.
