The Plaza Mayor occupies ground zero in Old Trinidad. From here one can wander off on the narrow twisting streets - built that way to confuse and confound pirates - to explore the old city. Several museums surround the plaza; in the background is the tower of the Antiguo Convento de San Francisco de Asis, which now houses the Museum of the Fight Against Outlaws, meaning those who opposed the revolution. Trinidad was actually the first choice for the invasion that took place at the nearby Bay of Pigs.
